SEEN is looking for a part-time Volunteer coordinator to recruit, train, manage and oversee our volunteers at SEEN. 

The purpose of this role is to provide operational leadership and oversight of the SEEN Volunteer Programme and support the wider development of the Volunteer Programme at SEEN. The Volunteer Coordinator will work to ensure volunteers feel equipped and supported to use their skills and lived experience in a range of established volunteer roles. 

They will also work with the team to develop and recruit volunteers for new roles that support SEEN to deliver on its aims and objectives. The role will involve maintaining close working relationships with our Director and Lead Counsellor. 

They will be able to build an enthusiastic team to help deliver and develop the services we provide including listening, prison, community and befriending. The candidate will have the following abilities: 

  • Good communication skills with all volunteers/staff and Director 
  • Proven understanding of volunteers and their environment 
  • Knowledge and experience of counselling 
  • Experience of managing a team and working with volunteers 

 

The following is desirable but not essential:   

  • Experience of working as a counsellor and Volunteer manager 
  • Experience of volunteering for a charity 
  • An appreciation of the work that SEEN does 
  • Previous experience in administration role 
  • Willing to attend training as necessary  

 

Essential in role:  

  • Recruit, train and manage volunteers 
  • Counselling experience 
  • Excellent communication, support and development for volunteers and staff 
  • Practising Christian and able to subscribe to Seen’s Faith Statement

Person Specification:   

  • Fluent English speaker with good written and verbal communication skills 
  • Self-motivated and resourceful approach to getting the job done  
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise and to work with attention to detail  
  • Flexible multi-tasker who can work independently as well as part of a team  
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, Outlook and ideally PowerPoint 
  • Basic numerical skills to e.g. produce volunteer statistics 
  • Respect confidentiality
