Here To Help

We provide a safe space to support those facing unplanned pregnancy and baby loss, and we deliver healthy relationship and sex education to empower and nurture our community

We have been established for 24 years now and this year we changed our name to SEEN as we have evolved in our offerings where we Support, Empower, Educate and Nurture through the work that we do.

We are a small local charity based in Twickenham with a team of 7 part time staff and 12 volunteers, and 5 trustees.

Back in 1999, we started out by providing support for those women and men facing unplanned pregnancy and pregnancy loss, and over the years we have expanded into other areas including prison work, schools work and counselling in the Termination clinic at West Middlesex Hospital.

Here are some statistics which highlights the need for our work –

  • 45% of pregnancies and 1/3 of births are unplanned in England
  • 1 in 3 women in the UK will have an abortion by the time they are 45
  • 1 in 5 pregnancies end in miscarriage
  • The prison population has risen by 70% in the last 30 years and is currently set to rise by 18,000 by 2026
  • “A survey of young people found that half rated the sex education that they received as poor or terrible”

SEEN were there for us both when we felt so alone. They are knowledgeable and have provided so much incredible support without judgement. I really don’t know how we would have got through this without them.

I will highly recommend. I believe we don’t have enough support in general when dealing with a loss that huge, the SEEN is making a big difference with the quality of the content and a remarkable group of counsellors.

So grateful for your kindness, time, care and non-judgement. I couldn’t have asked for more. Phoned this morning and had an appointment this afternoon. Amazing. Really helped to talk it out. Thank you. I feel fortunate to have found your centre and close to my home.

Having to deal with more than 1 person from SEEN, I can clearly say that they have a great group of people and their doing a great job of supporting people going through the difficult journey I have been through, offering empathy, care, a ear to listen to but most importantly they are giving us hope for better days and the will to stand tall again and keep moving.

SEEN were able to offer immediate crisis counselling support to a patient under my care. They were able to easily resolve language and location barriers.

They’re communication and kindness throughout the process was excellent. Their non-judgemental approach allowed the patient to feel empowered about making the decision that was right for her.

Thank you Seen. I will continue to spread the word amongst health care professionals.

SEEN delivers the counselling in our termination clinic which is a legal requirement. This provides support for our patients for their mental and emotional wellbeing before and after the termination procedure. They provide a safe, confidential, free and non-judgemental service.

The course and its structure have helped me to revisit emotions that might have been ‘locked’ and allow for all emotions to be let out and processed.

X proved to be an extremely effective and patient listener, who enabled me to feel heard, and air my thoughts in a non-judgemental environment.

I wish this service was more known, people should be told of local services when booking an abortion as additional support if needed.

The course helped me through the most difficult time of my life, and if I had not found Seen on the internet, I don’t think I would have got through it. Thank you.

Seen helped me by just being able to talk and get my feelings out without being judged.

They helped me to process my thoughts and take my grief in stages and to keep going.  This service needs to be more well known.
